Okay now I see the missing link that apparently we were unaware of or it has been added since the time of the editor's lounge.
"Step 4) import AAF - the default selections are great, In Resolve 9, for non-drop/drop frame timecode support activate "Handle mixed framerate material". Resolve 10 has default non-drop/drop frame timecode support."
I guess I wouldn't expect "Handle mixed framerate material" to have anything to do with drop vs. non drop time code. The frame rates of drop and non drop are identical in the 29.97, 59.94, 25, 50 world etc... I had assumed that was Resolves way of handling when it gets a mixed frame rate sequence from Avid, when someone has cut in 23.98 material into a 59.94 project etc... Now I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Time for me to play some more with this. Thanks for the step by step that cleared up the mystery for me.
