are you trying to get one SRW to control another SRW in a source deck / record deck operation? I've done this many times, though it's been a couple of years since I've had reason to do it. But if I remember you have to set the decks to be master and slave in one of the menu settings. I'm not near any decks to check right now, sorry. But it's something to check in to.
