Thinking along the same lines, you might try opening the sequence from your bin with the EDL Manager. If that works, then it should be possible to send that EDL back to a new bin in MC and hopefully relink it somehow to your media.

See if the bin opens and find the seq in Film Scribe, (it may not be installed on your Avid) as most people don't know how useful it is for parsing lists and metadata. If you can open it, then there may be some hope.
