There are built in LUTs in the interface. Obviously, what you really need is a customized LUT, but there are RAW to 709 LUTs in there.
When you're in Source Settings (right or option click on the Source monitor with the 4K/RAW footage loaded) choose the Color Encoding tab at the top right of the Source Settings window. Then on the left side, is Source Color Space choose Unknown, unless there's an option in there that correctly describes the footage you're looking at.
Below that is a big blank square. That's where your LUTs get loaded. You can have many. You only need one.
Below the blank box is a menu pulldown that probably says Levels scaling (full range to video levels). Click on that and a pulldown menu emerges. Try any of the options. If you are looking at LOG footage (which would be flat looking), maybe try the Alexa, Canon or Sony LOG LUTS, like Canon C-LOG to REC709. With that selected, click on the little + sign below the menu, next to the buttons for DELETE and AUTO. That will load the LUT into the blank box above. Then click APPLY or OK at the bottom right to apply the transformation. Check your playback quality button in your timeline to improve playback... or if you like the new Source Settings, transcode it or consolidate it to Avid DNxHD media and it should play great.
These and many other workflows and tips lovingly detailed in my new book, "Avid Uncut" which will be available at NAB.

I'm trying to work out a quick workflow for GoPro footage in MC7, and I can't seem to find much info out there about the fun new tools like FrameFlex and LUTs with GoPro's resolutions like 1920x1440 48fps and color spaces like Protune Camera RAW.
Has anyone cracked a good system yet? AMA imports things fine, and it's easy to set frameflex and color defaults, but the clips barely play (8-core 2.26ghz MacPro w/ 24gb ram), and I can't find a LUT to download anywhere, so without manual color correction, things obviously look pretty flat.Sure, I could convert things to DNxHD, but then I seem to lose Frameflex and the high frame rate - unless I'm totally doing it wrong. Am I?Thanks in advance.-Vince Anido
