[Avid-L2] Re: Decklink Extreme problem

In my experience with our Resolve that I added AVid 6.5 too you need to uninstall the BM drivers and then reinstall them after Avid has been installed/reinstalled. I haven't gone back and forth on our system to use Resolve for a while but prior to someone installing the trial Avid V 7 everything was working with Avid V 6.x and Resolve still worked. Once somebody installed the V7 trial the card didn't work until I uninstalled V7 and installed V 6.5.3 ish then I uninstalled the BM desktop Video, which is basically the driver installer as far as I know, and it worked. They say you need to install avid first and from my experience it seems important to uninstall the BM drivers/desktop software before reinstalling it. IIRC the uninstaller is on the .dmg for mac and probably on the install disk for PC's. On our mac it wasn't installed like Avid does with it's uninstallers so I had to get the install .dmg to find the uninstaller. I hope doing things in the suggested order will solve your problems like it did mine.

I got an error message that there was a conflict with the card. Since that point, I was not getting any output from the card either in Resolve or MC. BM Media Express would give me an error : Blackmagic hardware could not be found on your system. I reinstalled the BM drivers, restarted the computer (windows 7) and got the same results. What eventually happened was that if I restarted the computer and launched Media Express first thing, it would open up. Then I could open Resolve and the card worked fine. Close Resolve, open Avid, no output. Close Avid, open Media Express, same error: BM hardware could not be found on your system. Restart computer, run BM Express, fine. Run Avid, same issue. The problem only starts when I open Avid. Maybe an Avid reinstall?
