I like to think that the features we at CBS request and the bugs we find do benefit the larger community as they trickle down into the software releases. Understanding, of course, that our concerns are different. I care less about editing 4K video or advanced color correction, for example, than I do about a shared editing environment that can support 60-120 edit clients. Different concerns, yes, but the edit application (Media Composer/NewsCutter) is the front end for my large broadcast infrastructure so I want it to work as well as anyone.
Devil's advocate argument - So, here's a forum for "the small guys" to get some direct face-to-face time with the movers and shakers at Avid. You guys will all be in Vegas anyway, right?

What you say is true. Should Avid have limited this group to those large enterprise users? For us small guys, the relevance of the board and Avid Connect is hard to find (past revenue generation).
