Chicago's documentary scene is very heavily Avid. At least the stuff I've on-lined for the big doc companies: Kurtis Productions, Towers Productions, Kartemquin Films. They are all Avid.
I'm not denying FCP isn't the stalwart in the doc/indie group, but there are exceptions. That may be geographical. The indie feature I cut ("Courageous") was on FCP7.

That doesn't surprise me at al.. Most of the documentaries and indie features that we finish were offlined on FCP 7. Even today.
