Both dongles will allow you to open older version of MC. One user in the forum reported using it MC 7 dongle with MC 1.7 Adrenaline.

MC 7 w/ Symphony Option dongle will ONLY open Symphony version 6 and 6.5 (w/ latest patch). It will NOT open Symphony 5.5 or older. Those versions do not understand MC w/ Symphony licensing.
