Re: [Avid-L2] Backwards Project/Bin compatibility from V7 to Previous Avid versions?

Yes - I have seen that message. Try just opening a 7.x bin rather than the project. Something that bit me was that if Frameflex has been invoked in MC7 (and it will, if any clip that does not exactly match the project format has been added to a sequence), the clips show up with a bunch of 'Unknown Effect' icons in the earlier version. A pain.

Subject: [Avid-L2] Backwards Project/Bin compatibility from V7 to Previous Avid versions?

I am aware that I need to be on the latest, or in some cases the last 2, versions of 5.5, 6.x and 6.5.x to have bin compatibility with V. 7 bins.  From my limited experience getting V7 stuff it seems the projects aren't compatible but the bins are.  I have a few projects that give me a prompt on launch about these volumes have not been mounted before or some such message and the project doesn't open.  It that the typical issue when trying to open a V7 project on earlier systems?  I create a matching project on 6.5.4 and I can open the bins fine.  Is there another approach that would allow opening a V7 project on an earlier bin compatible version?
