New MacPro 12 core OS 10.8.3 with Resolve 9 and blackmagic extreme card. I added avid mc 6.0.x a while back and it was working fine. Since then someone has installed Avid V7 as a trial and I have no idea what else was tried in the middle, perhaps a trial of 6.5. Bottom line I uninstalled V7 as they were having issues when trying to capture. I loaded Avid Symphony 6.0.4 and then I reloaded the Black Magic Desktop 9.7.5 which I think is what I had installed before several months back when I had the system working. I can see the BM open I/O plugin in the Avx 2 folder but when I launch avid I see Blackmagic as a greyed out choice in the capture tool.
I've gone to the black magic site and it says the open I/O is automatically installed as long as Avid is installed first. Bottom line is there a Blackmagic uninstaller I need to run to clear things out before reinstalling the black magic desktop software? Also I see that the current download is 9.9.3. Given it worked before with V6 I figured I'd stick with the older desktop software but as yet I haven't found a reference list for what version should go with which version of Avid. The main pg 27 in the manual I downloaded only mentions Avid V7 but I know this use to work. Can anybody shed some light on this.
I am able to controll and see the input from a vtr using the blackmagic stand alone software just can't seem to access it in Avid. Also I don't see a video output in the Avid Settings menu which leads me to believe the hardware is not being recognized by Avid. This is understandable if something is wrong but how come I still see blackmagic as a choice in the capture tool pull down input menu? It is sort of greyed out and I can't select it but some part of Avid knows it's there. If only this was an AJA product I'd have a real support team to rely on.
