Avid Certified Support Representative Engineer (ACSR)

Role Purpose & Responsibilities
We are seeking a qualified Avid Certified Support Representative Engineer (ACSR) for a staff position supporting our Production Services department. The ACSR Engineer will have a primary focus on the Post Production Avid edit and media storage systems. This position also includes providing ongoing daily operational and maintenance support for the Post Production, Studio Production and other various technical operating areas within the Production facility.
• Communicate with, understand and intelligently interface with various internal operating groups that include but are not limited to the Post Production, Studio Production, and various other technical and operating groups (internal and external staff)
• Understand specific operational issues, conditions and requirements, develop a working plan; specify required components which lead to a viable working solution
• Handle in depth configuration, system and hardware troubleshooting leading to problem resolution utilizing a solid working knowledge of Avid non-linear edit systems, Unity, ISIS, Transfer Manager, Workgroup solutions and overall media handling product line; in addition, based on operational requirements, the ability to clearly specify and subsequently install these systems
• Identify and isolate overall data network problems, as well as install complex post production handling and processing platforms; conceive and develop media networking solutions
• Perform software and firmware version upgrades and configuration changes to operating systems and platforms
Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience working in a Broadcast Television, TOC/NOC, Post Production or Media Programming facility with thorough understanding of Broadcast and digital network systems and signal flow concepts
• Must have a current ACSR certification and support experience with Avid Unity Media networks, Avid ISIS, and Avid Media Composer edit platforms
• Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Eligibility Requirements

• Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends
• Must be able, when required, to work various hours and shifts as required in support of a 7 day by 24 hour by 365 day operating Post Production facility
• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
Desired Characteristics
• Avid Interplay and Avid Transfer Manager support experience a plus
• Support experience for ancillary equipment such as VTRs, Pro Tools, After Effects Graphics stations
• Experience in providing technical and operational instruction for various operating groups and individuals relating specifically for newly installed hardware and/or systems and platforms
• Able to clearly converse, write and participate in developmental and troubleshooting meetings. In conjunction with these tasks, candidate should have the ability to clearly organize thoughts and physical information/resources and generate and disseminate that information to other members of the engineering and operations staff
• Able to demonstrate proficiency in the application and use of analog and digital television and digital signal communication test equipment
• Knowledge of master controller switchers, broadcast automation systems, graphics and character generator and channel branding systems, multi-channel broadcast play out servers and knowledge of television field and studio production helpful
• Able to understand complex concepts and systems and effectively translate that information to other staff members
• Knowledge in various broadcast and engineering design applications, AutoCAD, UNIX, Windows NT and LAN systems helpful
• Able to work and think independently with focused and clear communication and an understanding of verbal and written problem descriptions generated from non-technical operational personnel
