[Avid-L2] 6.5.4.1 released - Mavericks Support

Avid Media Composer v6.5.4.1(Mac and PC), Symphony v6.5.4.1 (Mac and PC) and NewsCutter 10.5.4.1 (PC) releases will launch publicly on the Download Center today, Monday, December 22, 2013 at 11:00 am ET.

ReadMe: The new and updated ReadMe is attached with support for both 10.9 and 10.9.1. The 6.5.4.1/10.5.4.1 ReadMe will be posted to the Knowledge Base. Please encourage customers to download and read the ReadMe before installing.

Mac installers: Mac installers are full installers that include the editing application and the helper applications.

Mavericks Support: Media Composer and Symphony v6.5.4.1 are the first releases of the 6.5.x editing application supporting Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9 and 10.9.1.

Uninstall: You must uninstall your previous version of editing application using the Avid Uninstallers located in your Applications folder before installing the new version. If you had upgraded your system to Mavericks on an editing version prior to v6.5.4.1 the uninstaller for that previous editing application will NOT uninstall the editing application successfully. To resolve this, use the uninstaller included in your v6.5.4.1 editor download to uninstall the previous version of the editing application.

Windows installers: Windows installers are patch installers and can be installed on top of an existing v6.5.4/10.5.4 installation.

If you receive the message '"Uninstall Media Composer.app' is damaged and can't be opened" you need to change your security settings to allow apps to be downloaded from anywhere.

1. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy.

2. Click the Lock in the bottom left side of the window and enter your admin password

3. Under "Allow apps downloaded from:" check Anywhere

4. Run the Media Composer Uninstaller again

Mac Only: Media Composer and Symphony v6.5.4.1 are not supported as remote clients in an Interplay Sphere environment.
