wow. some guy are really rude here.
I buy my MC (symphony actually) with a discount because of the NAB and FCX.
But was hard to me, because here (in Argentina) no one buy nothing legal. And my copy cost me 6000 pesos ( 1000USD), and I win by the end of the month 8000 pesos, so, its dificult to be legal here.
I bought from avid store and was just perfect. never a problem.
You could visit videoguys because yes, they have discounts sometimes.
its hard but worth it.

If you can't afford 1k for a new copy directly from the source then maybe editing is not fit you. There are plenty of opportunities in the food and beverage industry I hear. Not joking. If your very first job doesn't cover the cost of the genuine software from the manufacturer then you are not a pro editor you are playing at it.Next you'll be telling us you edit without scopes and you don't need a broadcast monitor because you've set up your view sonic screen just right and it looks great in your bedroom when you turn the big light off and work with just your Winnie the poo night light.MikeYes.

Yes, I agree - go to videoguys. Don't ever bit from the Avid store -- it's a horrible experience
Check VideoGuys.com.
They may still be offering a discount for people who are switching.

Subject: [Avid-L2] OT: legal copy of MC
Greetings,
I'm a long-time FCP editor who has generally worked with post houses running FCP 7 and Premiere. But lately, I've begun developing a relationship with a company who uses MC on Macs. I downloaded the 30-day trial, but would now like to buy my own, fully-licensed, legal copy of MC.
Any info on where to buy a legit used copy, or any gotchas to look out for are much appreciated.
Thanks!
Ethan Benninger
