Depending on what the graphic file is, that should be fine. If you have files with a lot of detail, you have the option of importing 1:1, (uncompressed) and this may look bettter in some cases.
Are you planning on editing the whole feature as AMA'd clips?
If so you will probably notice things slowing down quite a bit, the more bins you have open, the longer you time line gets, etc. Eventually you will get to the point where you have to wait several seconds between mouse/keyboard clicks, You should consider transcoding your your footage to DnX. AMA is fine for short projects, (depending on the codec) but gets to be a pain in long form. Just cuz you can do something, doesn't mean you should.

Yep. That did it. Thanks, Nick!
Given that the film is being edited and finished in ProRes 422HQ via AMA, and my not knowing my Avid codecs well, I used DNX175 for this import. Is that good or overkill? Is there a better suited Avid codec?
Thanks again,
Roberto

Don'y AMA. Try Import, inverting alpha.

Subject: [Avid-L2] Avid delivering twins: problem with AMA linking to graphic files with alpha
When I AMA link to two different graphic files with alpha, Avid then creates TWO files in the destination bin with the same name (as ONE of the files) and same content. I've tried multiple times, and it still won't import both of these different files. It just creates a duplicate of one file.
Here my process. If someone could help I'd be very grateful.
To start with, I exported a frame from my timeline as a .png and opened it in Photoshop.
I then cut and pasted 2 different layers (lets call them TOP and BOTTOM) of elements and turned off the background layer.
With only the TOP set of layers on, I saved the file as TOP.png
With only the BOTTOM layers on, I saved the file as BOTTOM.png
When I then AMA link to these to files, it imports either as:
TOP.png
TOP.png
Same content in each (proper Alpha channel tho)
or
BOTTOM.png
BOTTOM.png (again, with the same content in each)
What am I missing here, or does Avid just like giving birth to identical twins?
Thanks for any help!
