Re: [Avid-L2] RE: Re: In search of 40% neutral grey not 50 shades of grey?

Sorry if you didn't get an answer.  Not sure why.
Best way is to fill out the inquiry form.

Paint is latex based.
Coverage is approximately 250 square feet per gallon.

If you go to a place like Home Depot and ask for gray paint or specify any RGB, CMYK values you are going to get almost-gray paint.  If you want to be accurate you are looking for paint that is as flat as possible across the visible spectrum.  This is harder to produce than it might seem.  To be clear, absolute flatness is not the goal as this is probably impossible to produce.  The goal is to get very close to it.  SP-50 took about eight months to develop.  It is very flat, with little dips at the extremes of the visible range.

If you don't need to be as accurate as possible you can certainly go to Home Depot and order gray paint.

Please email me personally at martin@ecinemasystems.com if you have further questions.

Also, if anyone is interested, I am working on a book covering the setup and calibration of environments and systems for critical color viewing and evaluation.  Drop me a line and I'll add you to the announce list.
