well, VLC will play subs if present, and it will not know the difference between TC and subtitles :-)
The overlay will be scaled, just toy with it...
(And personally i think safe area is a niche market nowadays...)

Does it scale the overlay or do you have to create it at the exact pixel
size? Not a huge problem for me as I send the same sized files all the
time but it could get confusing if the client checks a different pixel
dimension against a safe area i supplied.
