Two words - SSD and RAM
As I've mentioned before I put 16Gigs of RAM and an SSD in my 2011 MBP and it FLIES now.
I think the RAM is most of it. MC7 is a MINIMUM of 8gigs of RAM, so if you have 4gigs, you're lucky if you can boot up at all.
I have MC7 on a MBP and it boots up in 32 seconds.
