[Avid-L2] Re: v7 Update Tip

Good advice that I never follow with a few exceptions. The layouts changed drastically from V.5.5 to V.6 IIRC. My workspaces did translate but it was all kinda wierd. I could still bring my settings over but just rebuilt the workspaces. The other issue I had was the safe title grid etc.... showed up as black not white and I couldn't change it. The solution was to create a new user and import the grid settings into my existing settings and over write the old setting. Screen shots of keyboard layouts are a better way to migrate your settings but I have also been able to import just the keyboard settings to a new user and avoid retyping.

I'm not at all advocating this but it has worked for me. Perhaps because my focus is on finishing work my range of tools used doesn't discover all the shortcomings of not building new settings. If you're stubborn like me remember you can import individual settings from a new user in the upgraded software and eliminate problem areas as you discover them. If nothing else it gives me something else to bitch about beside Resolve round tripping. ;-)
