Just be careful what you wish for. Over in flame and smoke land we have resolution independence - had it got years - but the cost is an engine that must render - to ensure playback of stereo 4k for example - we still have to render dissolves. In 2013.
And EVERYTHING else.
I'm five with it as its a finishing system in my mind and absolute guaranteed playback of everything at perfect quality is more important than being able to quickly try a few dissolve durations.
Reliable multi resolution playback comes with a different set if requirements. Either you tell everyone 32 disk raids or you can't play or you allow for single stream playback and force rendering - there are a few alternatives starting to appear such as caching to a fusion io but again there's a cost $$ and time.
