Re: [Avid-L2] background transcoding

I was being fairly sarcastic, but it's just funny for FCP-X which is so "forward-looking" and "revolutionary" that they're actually BEHIND the granddaddy of them all in this feature.

Seriously, I was having a talk with a bunch of Avid engineers one NAB over a decade ago, and they were up in arms over all of the patents that Apple had infringed on in making FCP. I don't think they ever decided to press their case on most of it, so Avid was clearly way in front of FCP and most of the others for a long time, but Avid has also been passed up on many fronts, so it's nice to see some features get to Avid before the competition.
