[Avid-L2] More MC 7 info

Avid is very pleased to announce the release of Media Composer 7.0,
NewsCutter 11.0, and the Symphony Option, available now for order and
download.

Media Composer 7.0 and NewsCutter 11.0 are packed with powerful new
features and tools, enhanced workflows, and performance improvements.

New Features:

1. FrameFlex

* Work directly with 2K, 4K, and 6K media in the timeline while
outputting HD
* Change the FrameFlex region of interest position, size and aspect
ratio

2. Real-Time LUTs (1D & 3D) and CDLs

* Support for fixed and custom LUTs/CDLs
* Bulk modify clips in a bin
* Real-time conversion to rec. 709

3. Background Processing (Transcode, Consolidate and Copy)

* Allows editors to continue working without interruption
* UI to manage jobs and reflect progress

4. Dynamic Media Folders (Watch Folders)

* Accelerates and simplifies AMA media management tasks automatically
in the background
* Associate "Profiles" to any folder (local or on shared storage) to
Link, Copy, Transcode or Consolidate files automatically

5. AS-11 – Standardized Delivery with Program Segmentation

* Support for Spanned Markers
* Shim support for consistent program delivery requirements
* Export to a single multi-essence OP1-A MXF file (AVC-I or IMX)

6. Audio Enhancements

* New Cached Audio Waveforms (Instant redraw)

AMA Enhancements:

3. AMA Extras

* New AMA navigation window to link to files & volumes
* Assign color to AMA clips in the timeline
* Consolidate or Transcode only AMA clip in a sequence
* Relink designating either data, audio or video tracks
* Drag & Drop AMA linking

Performance Improvements:

* Multi-cam (LongGOP) supports real-time playback of 9-way multi-cam
* Improvements to window drawing and timeline blue bar updates
* Mouse wheel improvements hovering over UI
* Improved AMA performance when linking to video and audio

New Licensing and Options:

1. Symphony Option

* Symphony functionality can now be enabled from Media Composer 7.0
– no extra installation needed
* Activated via software licensing or a dongle
* 30 day trial available in Media Composer 7.0

2. Media Composer 7: Interplay Edition

* Includes all of the powerful features of Media Composer 7 with the
added benefit of connectivity to Interplay Environments such as
Interplay, Interplay Central and Interplay Sphere
* All NewsCutter and Education products include Interplay Edition
licenses

3. New Software Licensing Logic

* Allows NewsCutter 11.0, Media Composer 7.0 licensing with and
without Symphony Option to run one version back
* Purchase a 7.0/11.0 license to authorize 6.x/10.x products

Attached is the final ReadMe.. Please scan it so you are ready to
answer any questions that might arise on Community.

AMA Plug-In's:

With the release of Media Composer 7 and NewsCutter 11, new versions of
AMA plug-ins will be qualified for use with this release. Some plug-ins
from third parties will not be available at the time of launch. The
Knowledge Base article below will be updated as they are released over
time.

Existing AMA plugins for Media Composer 6.5, Symphony 6.5, and
NewsCutter 10.5 can be installed with Media Composer 7 and NewsCutter
11, however these configurations are not qualified and you may
experience some issues. We recommend installing the updated AMA plug-ins
as soon as they become available from their manufactures if you rely on
them in your workflow.

Use of AMA clips with Background Transcode and Dynamic Media Folders
will require the qualified plugins to ensure functionality. Bottom
line….. Customers will need new plug-ins for background transcoding
or Dynamic Media Folder functionality. Some of these plug-in's aren't
released yet but are coming this summer/fall.

Moving between versions:

6.5.3/9.5.3 and 6.0.4/10.0.4 releases can be run using Media Composer 7
or NewsCutter 11 licenses (respectively) when available. In addition,
customers who will need to move bins or sequences from Media Composer 7
or NewsCutter 11 to previous versions should also install these updates
as they provide compatibility for assets created in newer versions of

Protection Process Reminder:

Customers who purchased Media Composer 6.5, Symphony 6.5 or NewsCutter
10.5 after April 7, 2013, and activated the "Download Code" before June
30, 2013, are "Protected" and are entitled to a software upgrade to
7/11(respectively) at no additional charge.

How the Process Works:

1. Any customer that purchased a physical kit for Media Composer 6.5,
Symphony 6.5 or NewsCutter 10.5 (either a new copy or an upgrade from a
previous version) after April 7, 2013 must redeem their "Download Code"
received with their purchase before June 30,2013 to qualify. Download
code is inside the kit on an card. Once this is done, the 6.5 or 10.5
codes required to activate are placed into your "My Account" at
account.avid.com.

2. Customers who purchased a Media Composer 6.5, Symphony 6.5 or
NewsCutter 10.5 download from the Avid Online Store ( either a new copy
or an upgrade from a previous version) during this period will
automatically qualify as Avid will deposit an activation into your "My
Account" at account.avid.com.

3. Now that Media Composer 7 and NewsCutter 11 are released and
available, an upgrade license (Activation ID) and new installers have
been automatically deposited in your Master Avid Account. Customers
simply need to log into their account at http://account.avid.com
