[Avid-L2] MC 7.0 bins not readable before MC 6.5.3/6.0.4

Hi all.

If bins created in 6.0.4 and 6.5.3 can be opened in pre 6.0 versions of MC, can we use these versions as way-stations?

Not ideal, I know. Have to have access to both versions etc etc

But what if you copy clip and sequence data from the 7.0 bin into a freshly-created bin? Then open that bin in the earlier version of the software. I realise there may elements that are 7.0-specific, and won't be recognised by previous versions. But I'm just thinking about basic clip and sequence data.

Early days, of course. But just floating the idea as something to try.

I have a dozen systems on 6.5.3 - ready to go up to 7.0, and about two dozen more on 5.5. So it could be important on a large job which might need more systems than we would have available at version 7.

Cheers.
