[Avid-L2] Failed to get the sample position from the AMA plug-in MC7

Importing or re-AMAing the problem clip solved this problem.

I have an one hour and forty three minute sequence composed of AMA'd Canon D5 footage and an imported WAV file. One of my short AMA clips played in the source monitor, but invoked "Failed to get the sample position from the AMA plug-in" in the sequence. The waveform ended abruptly near the end of the clip. I tried restarting MC7 and this did not solve the problem. Since the error message always occurred at the point I felt the problem was with the clip not the program. I tried transcoding the clip from the bin and got the same "Failed to get the sample position from the AMA plug-in" error message.

I then imported the clip and performed the following tests:
1) overwriting only the imported video into the sequence did not solve the problem
2) overwriting only the imported audio into the sequence solved the problem
It was definitely the clip audio.

I re-AMA'd the problem clip into the bin and checked it's audio waveform which looked fine. I edited the new AMA clip into the sequence and it played without error.

I would recommend that if you get "Failed to get the sample position from the AMA plug-in" re-AMA the offending clip.

Best Wishes,

Paul Sulsky

And what kind of files? QuickTime? H264? AVCHD? Try a test transcode to DNxHD and see if that helps.

With Best Wishes,

>> Hello folks I need help and advice.I just upgraded to 64 bit Windows 7 and Media Composer 6. I am editing with AMA files 1920x1080 60i. Every time I go to open a new bin the system runs slow. When I go to do an edit it may take 5 sec for it to react. I go to a SD project all works fine. Go back to this HD very slow. Am I missing a setting? I thought there was a way to work without being in HD but I can not remember how to do it. Thank You
