Europe seemed much more partial to the Sony editors than in LA. On the Olympics the British editors always wanted to be on the Sony editors but I was happy with my ISP-100 etc.... New York always seemed to have more Sony editors than did LA but CMX was the defacto standard until all the code birdies left the nest and went out on their own. IIRC the egonomic keyboard and voice activated editor were the beginning of the end for CMX. That R&D never paid off. After all who wants another voice in the edit room.
I do remember Sony pushing hard to throw in their edit controllers and offering a deal on the playback machines but even with that I never saw them take off in LA at the production companies and facilities I frequented.
