I'm doing a turnaround with a DaVinci artist and this morning I suddenly can't import his aaf files. I've successfully brought in five or six in the past few days (minor color tweaks), but as of this morning, they appear grayed out in the Import window if I select AAF Documents from the Enable pulldown menu. And if I choose Enable Any Documents, I get, "Exception: DISK_INVALID_FILENAME_SYNTAX."
When I couldn't successfully import the new aaf, I tried to import the ones I've successfully brought in recently: all are grayed out in the Import window or give the same Exception when I choose Any Documents. The aaf does in fact have a long name —more than 27 characters, which would explain INVALID_FILENAME, but the ones that successfully imported in the past also had long names. I haven't spoken to the colorist, but I assume the name is generated by DaVinci on export. I tried to rename the aaf to something shorter, but that had no effect
I've done a full restart without success and now will dump databases and MC State. But I have a feeling this won't change anything. I"ve made no changes to my system (to my knowledge) between this working and not. I would appreciate any suggestions on this.
