I would imagine they will be fine with it; it shows Avid are back in the game and get that non interplay users shouldn't need to pay the Interplay tax.
Louis Hernandez may be a money man but he is a money man who has been coding since he was a kid; he "gets" it by the looks. He could well be the visionary Terry alluded to Avid needing.
Interplay Central is looking very good. The bundle with "all you need to get started" with five seats and a16TB ISIS for 49K looked pretty compelling to me. The thin Avid editing / logging / messaging client is very smooth and you can do multicam and 24p in the thin client too IIRC
Also the Avid database tracks all files now. You set the media directories in the Media Creation, by the looks, and so there is no more "outboard" AMA - they track Avid mediafiles and non Avid media files the same. And you can transcode them to MXF in the background while editing.
ProTools 11 is looking good and Avid have made sure ProTools users can take v11 projects back to previous versions and you can open any project from v5 on in v11. Looks like they are on form this NAB!

Wow. A 60% price haircut. Stock holders are going to love that. ;-)
Here's the upgrade pricing. Quite reasonable.

With this version and pricing, it's looking like Avid MC 7 is finally capitulating, and settling fully into FCP's space, as a replacement toolset.
But, with the same sorry old title tool?
