The only real hassle I run into is that with log GOP files like XDCam,
you can't do a quick time reference export - half the time even if you
do a trans code to DNxHD overnight because it never seems to get
everything. That means your machine can be tied up for a LONG TIME if
you have a large program to export, not to mention bunches of drive space.
Quick and dirty projects - like my kids spring musical - tend to be done
in Premiere because I can export directly to Adobe Media Encoder in the
background and keep working in Avid on paying projects..... If someone
has a way around THAT - I'd be really grateful.
