It might be a setting, and has been mentioned, you DO NOT want to use the export or mixdown method. This is the reason I wanted to know WHY you were trying to do this. Simply load a sequence of "selects" into your source monitor and edit from that. Editors have been cutting like this on Avid for thousands of years. Ancient Chinese texts, Mayan pyramids and the scrolls from the Dead Sea all confirm the wisdom of this method.
