Steve check out the new panels for the new "A" PVM-2541A if you haven't already seen it. Sony stacked the old panel on top of the new one and they have a swivel base marked out in degrees so you can compare the improvement in off axis saturation. They also have a bunch of monitor probes like the xrite and klein and something I believe was a radio spectrometer or some sort of very fancy probe monitor. They showed me the in's and out's of setting up the PVM with the sony free software. I was also told that the monitors are pretty stable for the first 3 to 4 years, which was reassuring but might be viewed differently by others. The Sony engineers had found a flaw in the auto set up between the OLED's and CRT's. Apparently even though the auto tests would show the two to be matched technically the two monitors would look different. Sony came up with an offset calculation that brings the two looks after auto white setup to be a better match. Very informative to me. And the new panels are still the same price, too bad I already have the old one.

If you want to see the spiel, I'll do one from about 9:15am to about 10:00am, and another from maybe 10:15 to 11am... I don't know if I'll do one from 11:15 to noon, but if there's a big enough crowd still at the show, I will. Stop by the north hall, near entrance N3 to see me at booth N0609, I think. It's a chance to win one of my "Art and Technique of Color Correction" books or a Class on Demand training DVD.... or just to mock me.
