A company I work at is looking to add Resolve to the symphony bay. I'm curious what those with Resolve stick time think about the Tangent Wave panel vs the Avid Artist Color. I saw a newer Tangent panel at NAB that had 3 modules that seemed like a better fit somewhere between the full tilt Black Magic panels and a wave/artist color. Is there a defacto standard choice on smaller Resolve systems? Without a common control surface I would think that would hinder freelance colorists coming in but I guess they have to roll with the punches.
Here is the suggested upgrade equipment package:
I've gotten some bids for the upgrade. Please look at the below
equipment and let me know if you think it's all necessary to be added to
a new 12 core MacPro.
- Xpander Elite 19" rackmount PCI
- Red Rocket Card
- 2 Quadro 4000 Mac
- Decklink 4K Extreme
- Tangent Wave Panel
It seems reasonable to me but the Red Rocket card might not be necessary as they are only looking to do projects that have been shot on Red in Resolve for now and that's not too many projects at the moment. What aspects of Resolve does the Red Rocket enhance?
I'm also curious if it makes sense to add this to the existing symphony or build a new stand alone bay? Perhaps KVM switch with two separate computers might be in order. That way they could avoid all the terminal gear that would have to go into a new full tilt color correction room. I'm open to any insight/suggestions.
