Yes, we had the old version and the BBC had the new version and we would pass a programme and the BBC would fail it. We would then have to fix the problem with a machine that was incapable of detecting the problem. Was it a free update? I spoke to an engineer who told me that a famous kids show from the 80's sent the harding off the charts when it was being tested recently to be used in a national broadcasters online VOD service. It seems more like an ass-covering device than an actual genuine concern for people with PSE.

It was but the combined UK spec still allows the old version, although I

think commercials have to pass the new version.

About 9 months ago a programme that had passed Harding went on to trigger

some PSE episodes. I believe it was a specific type of red patterning. A new

algorithm was developed to catch it and a software update was released to

all licensed Harding facilities.
