Just received an email shot from Avid asking me to try out the Symphony 6.5 trial. Touted features include;
Edit with the same tools found in Media Composer
Get the look you want with advanced colour grading tools
Design stunning visual effects with Boris Continuum Complete*
Create and deliver final masters in the highest quality**
The first * tells you Boris isn't included in the trial and the second * tells you that you need DX hardware. So one out of four is actually a feature and it's the one thing everyone universally agrees is the most aged component of the software (apart from maybe the title tool). They don't make it easy for you.

Source File was added in 5.0 and Source Path was added in 5.5.

>> That's how it works now in Symphony when you grade by tape/master clip/subclip/clip name - and it is a thing of great beauty - but sadly it is now almost unusable with the advent of tapeless media as everyone's terrified of renaming clips in case they go AWOL...

This would enable you to grade MUCH BETTER and MORE QUICKLY by grouping together shots which have the same set up as each other (without having to resort to changing clip names). In an ideal scenario, the Avid would be able to 'group' these clips automatically (based on shot content) - OR assist you to group them yourself. The icing on the cake would then be for the Avid to then feed back to the operator how many shots you are grading at any one time - and even show you where the 'grouped' shots are in the timeline.
