I may be mistaken, but I'm thinking prores was added about 6.0
I'm not sure how you'd do this on a PC, but on a MAC you could try
downloading the trial version, then installing ONLY PE Codecs (deselect
everything else in the installer.) I don't know if that will work or
just screw everything up.
There ARE new codecs in 6.5, but ProRes isn't one of them - that was
earlier.
The most obvious option is to upgrade your MC version; the next best
thing, if that's not a valid option, would be to install the TRIAL
version of 6.5.2 somewhere (it runs for 30 days) and use it to transcode
to a codec you know works in 5.5.
