[Avid-L2] Re: Who needs 4K?

 

Most of us on this list would agree that having the highest possible resolution at acquisition gives us greater flexibility and quality in the post process to create our work. My original point was not that we should turn our noses up at 4k. It was to point out that within finite budgets we have to make hard decisions. If I am shooting a factual documentary and have the option of capturing one interview with an expensive camera or three with a less expensive camera, I would choose the latter, as doing the former would not be a fair treatment of the subject matter. Fortunately we have a new breed of affordable high quality cameras that can mostly provide the best of both worlds.
