I'd be interested to hear just how well this new integration is from people working in the 3D trenches. The production companies I've dealt with that are delivering 3D content are going through all kind of hurdles and getting low balled by the networks. I realize that's not the point of your comment but it's been amazing to hear the ridiculous workflows I've seen adopted out of necessity.
In one case after recording to two nanoflash units that were controlled by the Sony 3D Cameras HDSDI streams for start record and stop it was discovered that the two files were not the same duration which rendered Avid's 3D tools unusable because they found Avid would not create stereoscopic clips if the the two eye files were differing in length. Because of this they were forced to create side by side images with PIP to create a 3D output for monitoring in the Avid. I found this amazingly creative and frustrating all at the same time but I wasn't working on the project so I can only imagine all the headaches it took to come up with the workflow.
