I have a lot of firewire 800 and 400 enclosure must of which also have Esata. I will certainly get a thunderbolt to firewire adapter for the new iMac but with 4 USB 3 ports on the computer it seems a lot cheaper for multiple drives to go USB3 to Esata. I see some cables on amazon etc.... I also se laCie has a esata TB hub with two Esata ports and a loop through. I read that the two TB ports can each have up to 10Gbps one for data and one for video or something like that. Do USB3 to esata cables really work? I like the loop through TB because I will be driving an external monitor too and would like to not tie up both TB ports. Curious what others are doing to retain access to firewire legacy drives.
