The original MC came on floppies. Initially about 3 or 4. They continued to supply
floppies(now 7 or 8) for several years. I think they used floppies from 1989 till maybe
1993. There really was no alternative.
And it was slowwwwwwww to load. I reload of software could take 1-2 hours.(if it worked.)
What's amazing is that in the beginning, all the compression(4bit) was done in software.
So in addition to MC software there was compression software.
MC was a lot simpler than now. Initiallly, cuts only and 2 audio tracks.
It was a happy day when we got dissolves. Maybe Version 3.0

Avid came on floppy diskettes, really? How many? I never would've thought
you could fit Avid on a diskette, didn't they only hold 1.4 megabytes?
