Re: [Avid-L2] Espera

Thats why you need a good reseller to listen to your file delivery pain
points and specify the correct Aspera solution for you!

Aspera is an amazing product and are very much an engineering lead
company. Unfortunately this means that their product marketing can be a
little on the 'heavy' side for casual surfers to really understand in a 2
minute glance.

Essentially they have written their own internet protocol called 'fasp'
that uses UDP to accelerate data transfers. It is a client/server based
application and there are various different flavours of clients and
servers - hence the bewildering array of products on their website.

In Europe they have become the defacto standard for broadcasters and
studios for secure delivery and in the US most of major film studios use
it in some form or another.

In recent times Aspera have gotten into the whole file workflow arena and
their Orchestrator product does some very clever "if this, then that" type
logic operations and integrates with 3rd party file QC, file encoding,
asset management and play out software.

Essentially it can get stuff from here to there very fast, very secure and
then push it all automatically through to the right people who need it.

Cheers
