One of the annoying things with all these companies is that although they
are basically just selling software but for some reason they haven't yet
arrived at a point where it can just be bought and downloaded from the
internet. Even deciphering the Aspera website is a mission.

There's a separate description of the data, kind of like... I'm out of my
expertise here... the way raid 5 works (??) that's delivered to the client -
then the client software does an inventory control and makes sure everything
was delivered - anything that didn't make it gets resent. LAYMAN'S
UNDERSTANDING! None of these products works without installing client
software - even if it's a java application that more-or-less hidden. Again,
if I understand correctly, File catalyst has a java app that can be loaded
through a web site so the client is unaware of what's going on, for the most
part. Aspera has a client app that has to be downloaded to the client
computer on first use - after that it's there until you either delete it or
it needs to be updated.
