It is possible to edit using USB2, but it's not a robust experience -- and definitely won't cut-it for this project.
Absent any other options, it seems the 8TB CalDigit VR2 might be my best option: http://www.caldigit.com/VR2/
However, it's not exactly the bandwidth I was looking for.
