My brain is troubled. Has anyone found a way of AMA linking to still graphics with RGB (8-bit 0-255) levels and having them show up as legal 601/709 (8-bit 16-235) in Media Composer (6.5)? We can set the interpretation when the file is imported as opposed to AMA linked. I've created a 1080 HD still frame with 75% full frame bars at RGB (0-255) levels. If I AMA link to it, it is out of gamut. If I pop this file into After Effects and render out a movie with identical levels, then AMA link to that, the levels are OK - so Media Composer is treating stills in a different manner to movies.
There is a bin column named 'GFX-Video Level' and I have only ever seen it display 'Do not modify levels' with an AMA linked item. Is there any way of adjusting this? Is this a future feature, yet unimplemented?
The Avid Pan & Zoom plugin (which also does a link) has checkboxes for RGB or 601. Why not AMA?
Yes, I know I can import a still but there is an inconsistency here.
