I met Steven Kudelski in Australia some years ago. In those days the Nagra IV had an instability problem when you ran with it over your shoulder, the AR indicator would flicker and you would lose Sync, this was a big problem for us when we did current affairs chases down the street for "60 minutes" and the like. So I raised this with Steven, where he said in his thick Polish accent "you do not run with it, you have it on a table". I also asked him how Nagra got its name, at the time he said it was named after a South American parrot, that was a perfect mimic. I later found out that he was having a joke on me and that it is actually Polish for "I can record" later on I was in South America doing an Interview with Ronald Biggs and we finished early, so I went down to the local zoo (as you do) and sure enough I found a parrot species called Niagra, it had an "I" added in the name, so to this day I am not sure what to believe, what ever, it makes a good story.
RIP Stefan your wonderful machines gave me much pleasure.
