[Avid-L2] Re: Error transcoding AVCHD

In general I too have found the skip mediafiles already on target drive to not function reliably, if at all. At times it has seemed to help to relink sequences to the target drive before doing a consolidate/transcode. Sequences might behave differently than individual clips like you are doing. After a stall you might try highlighting all the clips in the bin and relinking them to the target drive. It shouldn't effect the source clips links but it might link the already completed clips to the target drive and maybe Avid will better respect the skipping process of media already on the target drive. Just guessing but maybe worth a try?

This would reflect what used to be the issue with pre-6.0 imports of AVCHD that Avid could not always calculate the correct duration and therefore created clips with media errors in the final few frames. This was solved by AMA linking in 6.0 onwards. If this error is still the culprit I don't know how to identify that in the bin before transcoding?
