Arri is releasing the 7.0 firmware update for Alexa that adds 2K ProRes capability. The BMCC can do 2.5K CinemaDNG files. Seems that it's a short leap for these companies, along with RED via Redcine-X Pro, to be able to generate native-sized DNxHD media that are larger than 1080p.
It would be great if Avid could import such native DNxHD or ProRes files or image sequence files and maintain the ability to repo & resize like you can in the other NLEs. I realize this means new DNxHD codecs, but it's time for Avid to step up to the plate.
