Yeah, I had checked that, Steve, and I just did again. I pulled up the initial transcode that's really pushed at both ends (I'm sure there's a more appropriate term for crushed and blown out, but I'm not sure what it would be), a transcode I did the other day that (as best I recall) was part of an attempt to decompose and reimport a test sequence it has blacks that seem to match the AMA, but is a little darker on the top end and the relink and transcode I did today per Michael's instructions. This last one seems to match the original AMA on the waveform exactly.
All the transcodes are in a YCbCr 709 color space and the original AMA file is YCbCr 601.
