I tried that just last night and on the QT ref they both showed in the info window 1:1x without listing 1:1 anywhere. I will double check my media and see if there is a graphic or still import sneaking in at 10 bit.

I also noticed that the custom scaling was available when I set the monitor to lower resolutions. I was feeding VGA just because that was the cable I had at the time and my mini display port adapter was also feeding VGA successfully to the matching monitor. Does it make sense that the DVI-D signal/cable carries more EDID information to the adapter allowing it to properly display the correct image?

Is it correct to assume that when using a DVI-I cable to the monitor that it will be using the digital part of the signal? I notice I no longer have clock and centering parameters when I go to the monitors image control setting which I did have when I was connected vga. Is there something about the DVI-D signal that would do a better job at recognizing the EDID of the monitor? I'm glad it's working but if you have any additional info or reference sources where I could learn more about why the VGA overscans but the DVI-D works correctly I'd love to learn more about this.
