[Avid-L2] Re: Digital Deliveries

When I do a QT Ref out of Avid and use QTPro to make a self contained movie it maintains the time code. Are you using Export vs Save as. In my experience save as "self contained movie" maintains time code and the avid DNX codec. When I need to make a ProRes file I use export and I lose time code. I use QT Change to add back the time code but cutting and pasting would accomplish the same thing as far as I know. QT Change is a great little app for this and a myriad of other tasks especially dealing with file based footage, something I don't use but see how helpful it can be. It also will add a time code window in seconds that can then be baked in much easier than having to add it in Avid.

I got a great tip in LA of exporting a reference QT from Symphony which can contain up to 16 audio tracks, and importing that into Quick Time Pro. Unfortunately, the timecode track does not carry over when rendering out the self contained movie, and it has to be cut and pasted from the reference Quick Time.
