[Avid-L2] AMA link to Avid Compressed .mov shows offline?

I have a reference movie that plays in QT 7 and lists the codec as Avid meridian compressed codec, 720x486, Millions.  I link to ama file on my mac pro os 10.6.8 SNDX 5.5.3 and a clip appears in the bin but it is offline.  This is a 1080I 59.94 project and I tried toggling to 30I but still the clip is offline.  I'm trying a standard import which I hope will work.  I was thinking it would be quicker to link ama and consolidate than do a standard import.  Are there ama issues with meridian compressed codec?  I can't remember if I read about this a while back.  Given this is a QT movie my understanding is the QT ama component is still part of the Avid install and doesn't require an additional ama plugin.  I regularly link to ama on my SD 1:1 Avid shows to check my files for delivery and that works fine once I set the proper field order.  Am I missing something here?
