I only buy Hitachi hard drives for actual editing. Today they are
made by HGST (Hitachi Global Storage Technologies) which is the former
Hitachi hard drive unit, now owned by Western Digital but still run as
an independent operation. I buy raw drives (usually from B&H) and put
them in external boxes (eSATA, USB 3.0, or NAS).
For archival backup I buy cheap external Seagate drives.

Hi, all, informal survey here. We need new storage drives, I have an
old gRaid that worked like a champ (past tense :-( ) for years, but
I've heard rumor they were bought by Hitachi and the quality dropped.
We are a small production house, and have limited funds. Want to make
the most of what we can spend. What do people prefer on this group?
