Boot from your recovery partition (hold down option during startup, then
select it) and run Disk Utility on the startup partition. Also be sure to
repar permissions.
If this doesnt fix it, create a new user (Mac user, not Avid User). See if
the problem persists. If the new user works correctly, migrate your files
to the new user.
